Last Saturday, the Wright Staff team swapped CVs, interviews and timesheets for shotguns and clay pigeons as we hosted our latest clay pigeon shooting event.
It was a fantastic day, bringing together colleagues, clients and industry contacts for some friendly competition, plenty of laughs and the opportunity to catch up away from the office. Thankfully, the weather was on our side and, despite a few questionable attempts at hitting the clays, everyone had a brilliant time.
Now, onto the results…
Our Branch Manager, Alex, actually recorded the highest score of the day with an impressive 36 hits. However, after a brief discussion (and a few cries of “we can’t have the boss winning!”), it was unanimously agreed that management would be excluded from the official leaderboard in the interests of fairness… or at least that’s the story we’re sticking to!
That meant Toby was crowned the official Wright Staff Clay Shoot Champion, taking first place after an incredibly close contest with Ben, winning on countback after both finished on the same score. Simon completed the podium with a very respectable third-place finish.

Congratulations to all three – and commiserations to everyone else who discovered that clay pigeons are considerably harder to hit than they look!
Events like these are a great reminder that recruitment is built on relationships. Whether we’re supporting businesses with temporary staffing, permanent recruitment or simply spending time with clients outside of the workplace, it’s those relationships that make what we do so rewarding.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a success. We hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did, and we’re already looking forward to organising the next Wright Staff event.
Who knows… perhaps next time the Branch Manager will be allowed to compete officially!
